Lahaina Banyan Tree
Lahaina Banyan Tree - Maui, Hawaii : The Lahaina Banyan Tree, on the island of Maui, is a very difficult subject to try and capture. It's sheer size presents a problem in trying to convey it's size in an image without resorting to fisheye lenses which, often, tend to distort too much. The other problem is that it's such a popular tourist attraction that it's hard to find the area not filled with people. I took this shot around midnight one night... and decided to go with a black and white format. I've shot this tree several times, but this is my favorite photo of this famous tree.
